Taare Zameen Par is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language drama film produced and directed by Amir Khan.Creative director and writer Amole Gupte and his wife Deepa Bhatia served as the film’s editor. The shooting was held in Mumbai and in Panchgani’s New Era High School. on 21 December 2007 the film made its theatrical debut in India.

The main character of this film is Ishan Awasthi, a 8 year old dyslexic boy. His teachers and classmates disliked him due to his disabilities in understanding studies. His parents were also fed up with him and sent him to a boarding school. There he was treated more badly. But then another main character of this film, Ram Shankar Nikumbh joined that school as an art teacher. He mentored Ishaan to recover his disabilities. As Ishaan was good at art and drawing, he took the help of art to teach him how to read and write. At the end of the film, Ishaan got 1st prize in the art competition held between all the staff and students.

The story is telling how a person can be changed in a different approach. Specially for children, teachers’ role in their life is very significant. When a student or a person is unable to do anything, continuous bad behaviour makes the situation worse. But love and attention can bring change. Rather than focusing on the disabilities of a person, if we focus on their skills, they can be the best in that field.

The use of animation and colour in the whole film to make the imagination of Ishant more prominent, is done in a very beautiful way. Clay animation or claymation is used in this film, which is the first time in bollywood. The trio of Shankar,Ehsaan and Loy composed the film’s score, and Prasoon Joshi wrote the lyrics for many of the songs. The songs of this film are very much relatable with the scenes and make those scenes more emotional. The title track, “Kho na jaaye ye/ Taare zameen par ” says “Let us not lose these little stars on the earth” , which is the main message of the film. Acting of Darsheel Safary as Ishaan and Amir khan as Ram Shankar Nikumbh make the film realistic. Acting of Ishaan’s parents is also remarkable.

This film achieves many awards including ‘Guild award for best screenplay’, ‘Filmfare award for best film, best story, best director, best actor’, ‘National filmfare award for best male playback singer’ and many more.

According to me this is one of the best films I have ever seen. I will give a 9 out of 10 rating for this film.
